Since 1983, Allen Funeral Home, Inc. has continuously provided professional and compassionate funeral service in a home-like environment to families in the Susquehanna Valley. For 34 years, our family owned and operated funeral home has purposed to serve area families with dignity and respect during their time of greatest need. Helping families arrange personalized services has become the hallmark of Allen Funeral Home, Inc.
During the year 1955, Harry and Ida Mae Rishel purchased the elegant and inviting family residence of Harry and Bernice Keller at 745 Market Street, Bloomsburg and began serving Columbia County as Rishel Funeral Home. Harry Rishel distinguished himself by providing compassionate service to families experiencing loss due to the death of a loved one.
In 1983 ownership of the funeral home was transferred to Roger Allen. Allen Funeral Home, Inc. has continued to serve the Susquehanna Valley with personal funeral services emphasizing compassionate understanding to those suffering bereavement. The full-time and part-time staff of eleven employee’s place primary emphasis on providing funeral service tailored to specific family needs and desires. Based upon a 50-year career as a funeral director in Columbia, Lycoming and Tioga Counties, Roger Allen has become convinced that " cookie cutter" funeral services provide little, if any, consolation or comfort. Characterized by comfortable and relaxing home-like facilities, Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is an environment where grieving individuals can find solace and begin the necessary adjustments following great loss. Rather than allowing a funeral to become one day within a lifetime, Allen Funeral Home, Inc. purposes to memorialize a special lifetime within a given day.
For the past 53 years, a level of compassion and personal service which is often rivaled but not duplicated has been provided at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg and also a second location in Millville, originally as the Rishel Funeral Home and presently by Allen Funeral Home,Inc. According to funeral director owner, Roger Allen, more than ever before there exists a driving force within the funeral home staff which the is commitment to get the deceased where they need to go and the survivors where they need to be.
