Obituary

Woodrow "Woody" W. Wolfe, age 86, of Bloomsburg, died on Friday, December 31, 2010 a resident of Grandview Health Homes in Danville.
Woody was born on Tuesday, February 26, 1924 in Johnstown, Union County, a son of the late Albert and Pearl Schreckengast Wolfe. He attended the Lewisburg Area Schools. He served during WWII in Normandy in the United States Army with Company I of the 11th Infantry, 5th Infantry Division. Woody was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart, Medal of Good Conduct, Victory Medal and Bronze Stars. Until his retirement in 1984, he was employed by Acme Markets as a supervisor for over 40 years. He was a member and past treasurer of the St. Paul's Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Danville and also attended the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Danville Moose, Danville Elks and the "Good Ole Boys" Breakfast Club. He served for over 24 years and was past President of the Danville School Board. He was also very instrumental in opening the Columbia-Montour Area Vocational Technical School.
Woody was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, the late Audrey Barnett Wolfe on August 1, 1993; two sisters: Cleora Robbins and Betty Snyder; three brothers: Leroy, Frank, and Elwood Wolfe; and a step-daughter Connie Wolf on November 2, 2002.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty Jane "B.J." Daubert Wolf Wolfe, having been married on January 24, 1998; a son: Woodrow "Woody" W. Wolfe, Jr. and his wife, Debra, of Danville; a daughter: Wendy Guyer and her husband, Ted, of Swansea, IL; four grandchildren: Todd and Matthew Wolfe, Cassandra Guyer Afshar, and Blake Guyer; one great-granddaughter: Morgan Wolfe; four step-daughters: Karen Wolf and her husband, Edward Oberholtzer, of Oakland, CA; Cynthia Haupt and her husband, Glenn, of Sunbury; Cybil Bomberger and her husband, Carl, of Selinsgrove; and Christina Hess and her husband, Jeff, of Bloomsburg; a step-son: John Grant Wolf of Bloomsburg; step-grandchildren: Julie Herb and Glenn Haupt, Fredrick Dexheimer, Josiah and Jenny Oberholtzer, Cory and Cody Bomberger and Samuel and Andrew Hess; five step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Patricia Biddle and her husband, Robert, and Shirley Mader, all of Milton; and a brother: Richard Wolfe of Montandon.
A Service celebrating Woody's life will be held on Wednesday, January 5 at 11 a.m. from Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 260 E. Seventh Street in Bloomsburg with Rev. Steve Engelhardt, officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside Services will be held in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. A combined VFW/American Legion group will provide Military Honors. The Wolfe family is being assisted by the Allen Funeral Home of 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
