William D. Shaffer, age 66, of Stillwater, died on Friday evening, November 13, 2015 a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Bill was born on Wednesday, May 18, 1949 in Berwick, one of five children of Morris and Elva (Levan) Shaffer. While growing up in the Bloomsburg area, he attended the Central Columbia area schools and graduated from the Central Columbia High School in 1968. Bill was employed for over 40 years, by the former Magee Carpet Company in Bloomsburg, currently Autoneum, until his recent retirement during this year. He was faithful member of the Benton Assembly of God Church in Stillwater for many years. Bill loved to travel throughout the valley taking many car rides and also visiting his family. Bill enjoyed spending his time woodworking, hunting and fishing.
In addition to both of his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Shaffer in 1983.
Survivors include his three siblings, a sister: Kathleen Kasparek and husband, Calvin, of Leechburg; two brothers: Kerry Shaffer and wife, Suzanne, of Bloomsburg; and Paul Shaffer and wife, Vickie, of Stillwater; and nieces and nephews: Malen, Susan, Rodney, Annette, Joshua, Jessika, Kyle and Jacqleen.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday afternoon, November 17th from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Tuesday afternoon, November 17th at 1 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg with Pastor Mark Shellenberger of the Benton Assembly of God Church, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the St. James Cemetery, Stillwater. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to be serving the Kasparek and Shaffer families.
