William R. "Pappy" Bingaman, age 67, of a resident Poplar St. Bloomsburg died Saturday, April 16, 2011 in the Bloomsburg Hospital where he was admitted Tuesday. He had been in ill health since January.
Pappy was born on Monday, January 31, 1944 in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Robert Sr. and Jane (Smith) Bingaman. He was employed by the former Bloomsburg Mills for many years and for a brief period of time by Catawissa Lumber.
As a member of the Lightstreet Fire Co. he served as Captain of the Fire Police. He was also a member of the Montour Fire Co., the Espy Fire Co. and the Bloomsburg Fire Co.
Survivors include his beloved wife of over 40 years: Sharon (Grassley) Bingaman, a daughter: Lisa Mensinger, wife of Mike, of Catawissa; two sons: William R. "Bill" Bingaman, Jr. and Robert J. Bingaman husband of Jennifer, both of Bloomsburg; nine grandchildren: Scott, Chris, Courtney, Logen, Jordan, Sabrina, Haylea, Karlea and Katelyn; four great grandchildren: Jocelyn, Blaize, Jalyn and Sage. Also surviving are three brothers: Robert Bingaman Jr., Terry Bingaman and wife, Janice, and Barry Bingaman and wife, Yvonne, all of Maryland.
Friends will be received on Tuesday evening, April 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg, and also on Wednesday, April 20 from 11 a.m. until time of services.
