William C. Matthews, age 66, of Berwick, died on Thursday, April 16, 2020, in the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital Emergency Room. Bill was a resident of his home in North Centre Township for over 34 years.

He was born on Saturday, October 31, 1953 in Bloomsburg, a son of Mary (Reiffendifer) Matthews of Bloomsburg and the late Harold Matthews. Bill graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1972.

On July 16, 1983, Bill married his loving wife, the former Carla Crossley of Bloomsburg. For over 30 years, he was employed by The Bloomsburg Hospital as a Porter until his retirement in 2006.

Bill attended Journey Mate Wesleyan Church, Lightstreet. He was also a life member of the Bloomsburg Fire Company, a member of the former Bloomsburg Moose and a former member of the Bloomsburg VFW. Bill enjoyed spending his time bowling, hunting, fishing, and classic car modeling.

Survivors in addition to his mother, include his beloved wife of 36 years, Carla (Crossely) Matthews, his daughter, Holly Matthews of Berwick, and a sister, Barbara Hendricks of Bloomsburg.

Due to the recent events and the current CDC guidelines, current services will be private. A memorial service will be announced at a future date. Bill's family apologizes for restricting his family and friends from paying respects at this time. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Matthews family.
