Obituary

William E. "Bill" Streater, age 91, of Harveys Lake and formerly of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday morning, March 17, 2023, a patient of the Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes Barre. Bill was a resident of his home in Harveys Lake for the past 15 years and had lived in Bloomsburg for over 76 years.

He was born on Thursday, February 4, 1932 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late William P. and Norma L. (Sorter) Streater. Bill graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1949 and The Wyoming Seminary School of Business in 1951. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. On August 1, 1953, Bill married his loving wife, the former Carol E. Prevost.

For over 50 years, Bill was the owner of Streaters Flowers, Bloomsburg until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg and Alderson United Methodist Church, Harveys Lake. He was also a lifetime member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge, the Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273, the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg and the Irem Temple Shrine, Wilkes Barre. Bill was the Horticulture Director at The Bloomsburg Fair for 39 years, and past Chairman of The Bloomsburg Fair Building and Grounds, as well as a past member of the former Winona Fire Company, Bloomsburg. He was a certified welder, and enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and boating.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, Carol E. Streater of Harveys Lake, three children: Lucinda Streater Harrison and her husband Robert of South Dennis, MA, Mark W. Streater and his wife Stephanie of Bloomsburg, Marilyn Streater Beierschmitt and her husband Thomas of Dover, PA, five grandchildren: Alec Harrison, Madeline Harrison, Cole W. Streater and his wife Dominique, Shea Beierschmitt, and Grace Beierschmitt.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.

Prayer Services will begin on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Dave Walker of The Alderson United Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside committal services will be held privately at a later date in New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg with military honors provided by the combined American Legion and VFW honor guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Streater family.
