Obituary

William L. "Bill" Breech, age 84, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at his Catawissa Twp. home after a lengthy illness under the care of Compassus Hospice. Bill was a lifelong resident of Catawissa Township.

He was born on Monday, January 30, 1939 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Oscar and Gertrude (Force) Breech. Bill graduated from the former Catawissa High School in 1957. He faithfully served in the Pennsylvania National Guard Reserves (Army) for ten years joining in his junior year of high school. On March 21, 1959, Bill married his loving wife, the former Mary Ellen LeVan. He worked at Catawissa Lumber for 11 years; as a Union Millwright; and served as Catawissa Township Justice of the Peace for six years; and was elected Magisterial District Judge in Southern Columbia County in 1976, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Catawissa United Methodist Church and the Catawissa Lions Club. Bill had past memberships in the Roaring Creek Valley Grange, Catawissa Masonic Lodge and The Bloomsburg Elks Lodge. He enjoyed spending his time hunting at his cabin in Millville and was an accomplished gardener who enjoyed sharing the produce he harvested with friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Breech.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Ellen Breech, a daughter, Tami B. Kline and husband Jim of Jonestown, a son, William R. Breech and wife Vicki of Millville, a sister, Elda "Dolly" Kitchen of Catawissa.

Bill was deeply devoted to his family and his greatest joys in life were his grandchildren; Rebecca Hile and husband Tadd, Sarah Ryan and husband Matthew, Jared Kline, Wendy Wagner, Michael Boudman, and Benjamin Boudman. He was overjoyed to have so many beautiful years as "Papa Bear" and best buddy to his great-grandchildren; Emily and Tori Hile, Zane and Lydia Ryan and Gavin and Isabella Boudman. They were truly the light of his life. Also, surviving is a niece, nephews and numerous cousins all of which were very special to him.

At Bill's request, services will be private. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Breech family. Memorial contributions in William's name are suggested to: the donor's favorite local charity.
