Obituary

Wilbert W. "Sonny" Stadler, Jr., age 72, a life-long resident of Bloomsburg, died on Wednesday morning, April 2, 2014, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Sonny was born on Wednesday, January 14, 1942 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Wilbert W. Stadler, Sr. and the late Margaret Brooking Edwards. Throughout his younger years, Sonny attended and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1959. On December 26, 1959, Sonny married his high school sweetheart, the former Gloria Herman. Shortly after his education, Sonny enlisted with the United States Coast Guard where he served his country faithfully as a seaman during the Vietnam War. On July 14, 1965, Sonny was honorably discharged from his time of dedicated service to his country.
After returning home, he was employed by Milco Industries Inc., for many years. Most recently, he was employed by Geisinger Medical Center in Danville until his retirement in 1993. Throughout his retirement, he was also employed part-time by the Bloomsburg Recycling Center. Throughout most of his life, Sonny attended the former Nazarene Church in Bloomsburg. For many years, Sonny loved spending his time hunting and fishing in Pulaski, New York. He was also a very competitive and accomplished bowler which he enjoyed. His friends and family will also remember his talented gift of drawing as an artist, and the many pieces of art he created.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, Gloria Stadler of Bloomsburg; five daughters: Lori Hahn and husband, Marty, of Millville; Lyndee Tyson and husband, Kimber, of Espy; Lanette Shultz and husband, Ken, of Bloomsburg; Leigh Powlus and husband, Wade, of Bloomsburg; and Lisa Stadler also of Bloomsburg; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and also by a sister: Mary Ruth Houck and husband, Glenn, of Bloomsburg.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday morning, April 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Saturday morning, April 5 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon of the Shiloh Bible Church, Bloomsburg, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Stadler family.
