Wendy B. Upton, age 63, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2016, surrounded by her family and under the care of Columbia Montour Hospice. Wendy was a resident of Bloomsburg for over 40 years.
Wendy was born on Thursday, December 25, 1952 in Doylestown, a daughter of Marjorie (Heald) Barba of Doylestown and the late Charles E. Barba. Wendy graduated from the Central Bucks West High School in 1970. She expanded her education by attending Temple University, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in education in 1974. She went on to receive a Masters Degree from Bloomsburg University.
On June 8, 1974, Wendy married her high school sweetheart, Michael A. Upton of Doylestown.
For over 26 years, Wendy was employed by the Bloomsburg Area School District as a beloved Kindergarten Teacher until her retirement.
Wendy was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Hand Bell Choir. Wendy enjoyed spending her time gardening, painting, and playing with her grandchildren.


She loved educating young children and loved animals of all types. All who knew her were touched by charitable, giving spirit and her vibrant and loud love for her family and friends.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her adoring husband, Michael A. Upton of Bloomsburg; a son: Christopher M. Upton and wife, Sara, of Denver, CO; a son: Daniel W. Upton and wife, Meghan, of Kingston; two grandsons: Liam G. Upton and Cormick D. Upton; two brothers: Peter Barba and wife, Patricia, of Providence, RI; and Michael Barba and wife, Mary, of Doylestown; and a significant extended family. She leaves behind two adoring dogs, Bandit and Ben.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday morning, February 6 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 130 W. Third at Market Street in Bloomsburg.
Memorial Services will begin on Saturday morning, February 6 at 11 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Gary D. Weaver, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Upton family.
