Obituary

Virginia "Ginger" Hock, age 81, of Bloomsburg, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Ginger and her late husband Don lived in their home in Dutch Hill for over 52 years.

She was born February 28, 1941 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Richard "Kelly" and Ethel (Rishel) Holdren of Jerseytown. Virginia attended Millville High School and studied for one year at Kutztown University majoring in Art. On April 24, 1964, Ginger married her loving husband of 55 years, Donald Eugene Hock from Bloomsburg.

Ginger was a dedicated homemaker and loved cooking, caring for her flowers, and working alongside her husband and family, as part of Hock's Auction Service. Her love of antiques was evident throughout her beautiful home and her elaborate collections of antique toys and dolls. Ginger loved the Lord and shared her faith with friends, family and strangers. She was an active member of Shiloh Bible Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Bible Study leader and on the benevolence committee. She was a past chairman of the Berwick Christian Women's Club, served as Executive Director of Your Loving Choices, served on the Executive Board of AGAPE in Bloomsburg and lead a Bible Study through the prison ministries at Bloomsburg Prison. Ginger was an avid quilter and craftsperson and enjoyed teaching others these skills. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, and especially her grandchildren watching their sports, playing board games and taking them fishing.

In addition to her parents, Ginger also was preceded in death by her husband, Don, a brother, Ronald "Buck" Holdren, and a sister Carolyn "Sue" Brown.

Survivors include her three children Brent A. Hock and his wife Stephanie of Bloomsburg, Kristie M., wife of JK Kolmansberger of New Cumberland, PA, Seth D. Hock and wife Annie of Beaufort, SC; ten grandchildren, Colton Hock and wife Madison, Logan Hock and wife Maddie, Blaise Hock, Brody Hock, Hollis Kolmansberger, Braden Kolmansberger, Ashton Kolmansberger, River Hock, Iris Hock, and Moses Hock; a brother Richard "Dick" Holdren of Jerseytown, a brother Gary "Ned" Holdren and wife Barbara of rural Muncy.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Shiloh Bible Church in Bloomsburg. Funeral Services will begin on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Shiloh Bible Church,123 Church St., Bloomsburg with Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon officiating. Graveside committal services will begin at 2:00 pm at the Jerseytown Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to be serving the Hock family.
