Verna Rakocy, age 88, of Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, a resident of Balanced Care at Bloomsburg. Prior to her residence in Bloomsburg, she was also a resident of Kane, Pennsylvania prior in her life.
Verna was born on Wednesday, April 19, 1922, in Mt. Carmel, a daughter of the late Walter and Sophia Grenda. She attended the Mt. Carmel Area Schools. She was beloved wife and mother to her children and family. She enjoyed spending her time cooking, bowling and reading.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Helen Hertzog and a brother: Joseph Grenda. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include a daughter: Brendalee M. Wagner and her husband, Clair, of Bloomsburg; a son: Dennis J. Rakocy of Bradford, PA; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
