Obituary

Verna F. Kasinowski, recently celebrating the age of 91, and formerly of Kulpmont, died on Saturday evening, January 31, 2015 a resident of Balanced Care at Bloomsburg. Verna had been battling health challenges over the past year.
Verna was born on Thursday, January 24, 1924, in Kulpmont, a daughter of the late Alexander and Anna (Olbrish) Kasinowski. Throughout her younger years, she attended the local Kulpmont area schools. Verna spent most of her adult life living in Kulpmont, where she was employed by the local cigar factory for many years. She was also self-employed with a home cleaning business. After moving to the Bloomsburg area, Verna was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Parish.
Verna lived life to the fullest. She was known for lively conversation and for being an outstanding cook. Verna was famous for her homemade pierogies and Polish kielbasa, among many wonderful dishes. Her family and friends will miss her dearly
In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by a four siblings: Alexander, Peter, Frank Kasinowski, and Helen Slodysko.
Survivors include two sons: Dave Dietz and wife, Anne Marie, of Bloomsburg; and Robert Kasinowski of Shamokin; a daughter: Marie Brennan and husband, Edward, of Lewisburg; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister: Dorothy of Mt. Carmel; and two brothers: Harry Kasinowski of Shamokin and Albert Kase of Kulpmont.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, February 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg. A Wake service will also begin at 6 p.m. in the funeral home on Thursday evening
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning, February 6 at 10 a.m. at the St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron and Third Street, Bloomsburg with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, celebrant. Graveside committal will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
