Timothy Ryan Paternostro, age 55, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on Thursday, December 19, 1968 in Bath, NY, a son of Marthalie R. (Ryan) Paternostro and the late Thomas A. Paternostro. He graduated from Hughesville High School in 1987. He was an athlete and an avid sports fan. He played football, wrestling and tennis in high school and was named an all-state honorable mention in football in 1986. Timothy expanded his education by attending Lycoming College, graduating with a bachelor's degree in political science in 1991. He participated in several West Branch Bench Press Championships and consistently pressed over 500 lbs. He earned multiple awards in arm wrestling competitions.
On October 4, 1997, Timothy married his loving wife the former Mary Cay Hogan. He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg and was a founding member of the Paternostro Cancer Foundation. Perhaps the best times of his life were the moments he spent with his family. He enjoyed his time painting, learning history, watching sports especially wrestling and football, discussing politics and appreciating wildlife. He loved to look at the night sky and the peace he found in Maine.
Those who knew him best will remember Tim's sense of humor, which was top notch, witty and sharp. He was known for using profanity to make a strong point and would often create new swear words from the fast pace of his diatribes. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. His tough exterior was balanced by his huge heart.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen L. Morgan.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 27 years, Mary Cay Paternostro of Bloomsburg, his mother, Marthalie R. Paternostro of Unityville, three children; Kathryn O. Paternostro, Abigail M. Paternostro and Jack R. Paternostro all of Bloomsburg, two siblings; Thomas C. Paternostro and Julie Reedy of Milton, Krista P. Bower and husband James of Unityville and multiple extended family members.
