Thomas "Tom" W. Snyder, Sr., age 64, of 12 Terrace Drive, Bloomsburg died with his family at his side on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He was admitted in November 2009.

Tom was born on Saturday, August 11, 1945 in Espy, a son of the late Blake and Ruth (Rupp) Snyder. He was a 1963 graduate of Central Columbia High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam Era in Germany. He achieved the rank of Airman First Class with honors of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Tom was employed for 38 years with Geisinger Medical Center until his retirement in 2007. He continued to work part-time for Geisinger following his retirement. He is the longest attending member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Bloomsburg. He was a member for over forty years, and served as Church Trustee, Church Deacon, and taught the Junior boy's Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Administration Board of Bloomsburg Christian School and served on the property and finance committee. He was also the Boy's Brigade leader. Tom loved fishing and hunting as his primary hobby.

Surviving is his wife, the former Evalena Newham with whom he celebrated their forty-second wedding anniversary on July 22; a daughter: Pamela Metzger and husband, Greg, of Lewisburg; a son: Thomas W. Snyder, Jr., of Bloomsburg; 3 granddaughters: Cassondra Anspach and husband Kyle, of Nashville, Ashley Metzger of Lewisburg, and Madelyn Rae Metzger of Lewisburg; a brother: Blake Snyder and wife Martha, of Almedia; four sisters: Phyllis Smith and husband, Frank of Millville, Patricia Girton and husband, Harold of Bloomsburg, Carol Snyder of Millville, and Dawn Snyder and husband, Charles of Williamsport; a sister-in-law: Nancy Snyder of Millville.
Tom is preceded in death, including his parents, by a brother Franklin Snyder who died in 1983.

Friends will be received Saturday, January 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St, Bloomsburg. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 18 at 11 a.m. from the Calvary Baptist Church on 3300 Ridge Road, Bloomsburg. Friends will also be received at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with Military Honors will be held in the New Rosemont Cemetery in Espy. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Bloomsburg Christian School, 3300 Ridge Road, Bloomsburg.
