Thomas Telesky, age 77, of Bloomsburg, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his home under the care of his family, friends, and Commonwealth Hospice of Berwick.
Thomas was born on Saturday, May 15, 1948, in Berwick, a son of the late Leonard and Wilma (McCall) Telesky. He graduated from the Bloomsburg High School. In 1969, Thomas married his loving wife, the former Jerri Johnson. In 1969, he faithfully served in The United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1971. In his earlier years, he worked in admissions at Danville State Hospital and afterward was the owner of Telesky & Son Coal. Throughout the years of owning the coal delivery business, he amassed a bag containing dozens of IOUs from families with children for which he delivered coal to heat their homes in the winter, but for which they could not pay. Upon retiring from the coal business, he put a match to the bag of IOU's, never requesting payment for services delivered. One of many random acts of kindness we experienced throughout the years. He was a member of the NRA and Beechwood Lake Camp. Thomas was an expert Northern Pike angler, making custom buck tails jigs and enjoying many fly in fishing trips to Gouin Reservoir, Quebec as well as yearly trips to the magical Saint Lawrence River with Nick and Jim. In his younger years, he was known for his precision hand loading of custom ammunition, driven by his pursuit of utmost accuracy in marksmanship. Also, enjoyed many years of hunting and Canadian Whiskey sipping trips to their property in Beechwood Lake in Tioga County, PA.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was also preceded in death by his three brothers: James, John and Leonard Telesky, Jr.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Jerri Telesky of Bloomsburg; two children: Nicholas John Telesky and wife Amy Sue of Milton, Shana Marie Telesky of Bloomsburg; two granddaughters, Tacie and Sydney Telesky, "puppy puppies"; brother, Joseph Telesky of DE; nephew, Jim Telesky of Shippensburg. Very near to his heart were his two good friends: Kurt Watts "eldest son" and Jim Wohlford "next eldest son" who were a constant presence until his passing.
Until we meet again, we love and thank you for always being there for us. We had a blast.
The family respectfully declines tributes of flowers or food.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Telesky family.
Memorial contributions in Thomas' name are suggested to: Perform a random act of kindness for others when possible.
