Thomas E. Rhone, age 73, of Rupert, died on his birthday Friday evening, December 19, 2014 at his home surrounded by family and under the care of Geisinger-Columbia Montour Home Hospice.
Tom was born on Friday, December 19, 1941 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Merle and Hazel (Cashner) Rhone. Tom attended the Bloomsburg area schools throughout his younger years. Immediately following his education, Tom enlisted with the United States Army on April 18, 1967 during the Vietnam War. On July 1, 1967, Tom married his loving wife, the former Laura Strine of Catawissa. For many years, Tom was employed as a forklift operator at the former Berwick Industries until retiring in 2004. Tom always had a very avid love and interest in antique automobiles, especially Ford Edsels. Tom and his wife were also members of the local Dream Machines Club and the International Edsel Club.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Laura Rhone, of Rupert; their only son: Thomas E. Rhone and wife, Erica, of Catawissa; two granddaughters: Kadence and Mackenzie; a brother: Lawrence "Larry" Rhone and wife, Elaine, of Bloomsburg; and a sister: Donna Stackhouse of Berwick.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday morning, December 23 from 10 to 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Tuesday morning, December 23 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. R. Christian Dunlap, Geisinger-Columbia Montour Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Graveside committal services with full Military Honors will immediately follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Catawissa. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Rhone family.
