Thomas C. Johnson, age 85, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018, a patient of the Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center. Thomas was a resident of his home in Montour Twp. for over 42 years.
He was born on Wednesday, June 7, 1933 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late John LaRae and Lilly Mae (Carroll) Johnson. Throughout his younger years, Thomas attended the Bloomsburg area schools. On September 22, 1951, Thomas married his loving wife, the former Frances J. Laubach. For over 37 years, Thomas was employed by TRW, Danville. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg. He was also a member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436 B.P.O.E., Bloomsburg Moose L.O.O.M #623, and the Frosty Valley Country Club, Danville. Thomas was an avid golfer, enjoying three holes in one, two at Willow Run and one at Turbot Hills, Milton. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and was a master gardener. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was also preceded by son, Thomas R. "TR" Johnson, on August 22, 2016, three sisters; M. Odean Johnson, Hazel Hippenstiel, Myrtle Myers, and three brothers; John Johnson, Robert "Bob" Johnson, and R. William "Bill" Johnson.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Frances J. Johnson of Bloomsburg; a daughter, Laurie J. wife of Marc Gaylord of Hobe Sound, FL; a son, Curtis W. Johnson of Bloomsburg; a daughter in law, Kathleen M. Johnson of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren, Monica C. Johnson wife of Russ Nahodil of Coal Township; Sara A. Gaylord of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Jared E. Gaylord of Hobe Sound, FL; Mitchell T. Johnson of Bethlehem; a brother, Harry Johnson of Bloomsburg; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The 67 year marriage of Tom and Fran is a testament to the love they shared. Mom spent everyday of the past few years visiting and caring for dad. Their dedication and respect remains an inspiration to all.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg. Elks memorial services will be at 10:45 am.
Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Brian Fetterman, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Johnson family.
