Obituary

Thomas Bromley, age 93, of Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at his residence. He lived at his home on Old Berwick Road since 1996 and was formerly a resident of Fernville.
Thomas was born on Wednesday, October 10, 1917 in Altoona, PA, a son of the late Thomas and Jennie (Ohl) Bromley. He was a member of the 1935 Graduating Class of the Bloomsburg High School. Following high school, he served during World War II in the U.S. Army Infantry Division. While serving his country, he was awarded the distinguished honors of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Following his return to Bloomsburg after the war, he was employed for over 47 ½ years by Magee Carpet Co. until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Berwick Post #529, the Combat Infantryman's Assoc., the Susquehanna Valley World War II Veterans, also Ft. McClure VFW Post #804, a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #623, the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273, a life member of the former Liberty Fire Company, and also the Bloomsburg Fireman's Relief Association.
Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the late Betty S. (Smith) Bromley on January 28, 1995, and also by a sister: Emily Bromley in 1971.
Survivors include a daughter: Carol Clark and husband, Richard, of Bloomsburg; a grandson: Jeff Clark of Bloomsburg and two great-granddaughters: Madeline and Lucy. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 26 at 10 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St. in Bloomsburg with Rev. Thomas J. Fetterolf, officiating. Friends will be received on Friday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside Services will be held in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. A combined VFW/American Legion group will provide Military Honors. Memorial contributions in Thomas's name are suggested to a Veteran's Organization of the donor's choice.
