Theresa Moro, age 94, passed away in her Bloomsburg home on the morning of February 12, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Theresa was born on July 13, 1930 in Humboldt, Pennsylvania to the late Michael and Mary (Veliky) Yura; she was the "baby" or "queenie" of her eleven brothers and sisters, all of whom have predeceased her. After graduating from Hazleton High School in 1948, Theresa's mother and sisters pooled their savings and sent Theresa to Sacred Heart Nursing School. Theresa graduated two years later and pursued her lifelong passion for medicine.
After becoming licensed as a Registered Nurse in 1950, Theresa served her community in Hazleton until she married the late Thomas G. Moro. The couple moved to Bloomsburg, where Theresa was hired at the Bloomsburg Hospital. During her twenty-seven-year long career at Bloomsburg, Theresa worked in a number of departments, of which her favorite was Pediatrics. Her nursing skills and leadership eventually gained her a promotion to Quality Assurance Coordinator, where Theresa ensured that the hospital's staff complied with state and local regulations and rendered patients excellent care. When she retired from Bloomsburg in 1995, Theresa's role had to be divided into three different positions.
After she retired as a nurse, Theresa brought her focus on efficiency and her medical knowledge to her new career at Moro & Moro, Attorneys at Law, the law firm founded by her only child, Gregory T. Moro, Esquire and her daughter-in-law, Hope R. Moro, Esquire. Obliged to work from home during the 2020 COVID 19 pandemic, Theresa continued to review medical records for the firm's custody, professional licensing, and personal injury clients until her 92nd birthday.
Theresa approached her family life with the same zeal and faithfulness as her career. She and her late husband Thomas celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary before his passing on August 4, 2008. After a long marriage sustained by a shared love of the written word (he, writing, and she, reading), bus and boat travel, the polkas, and, of course, their beloved son and his family, she nursed him in his final illness. A loving and proud mother, Theresa supported first the Bloomsburg Panthers, then Scranton Royals anywhere that her son played sports. Eventually, she attended her granddaughters', Megan and Maddy Moro's, every sporting event.
In addition to her biological family, Theresa was an avid member of the Philadelphia Eagles' family. Fellow members of her ceramics group, Slovak organizations, and card game coterie will miss her. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg, where Theresa worshipped for 56 years.
