Thelma Elizabeth Singley , age 96, of Ellenton, FL died on Thursday, May 2, 2019, a patient of the BayVue Nursing Center in Bradenton. Thelma was formerly a resident of Bloomsburg and was a resident of Florida since 1988.
Thelma was born on Monday, September 4, 1922 in Weston, PA, a daughter of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Skoff) Kemler. Thelma graduated from the Black Creek Township High School in 1940.
On June 2, 1945, Thelma married her loving husband Ellis who died in 1994.
For many years, Thelma was employed by the Bloomsburg Mills, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed bowling in the Bloomsburg Moose lady's league as well as the couples league.
In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma was also preceded by a son, Edward, a daughter, Donna Pickard, four brothers, Leroy, James, Donald, and Roland and a sister, Marilyn Fisher.
Survivors include two sons: Robert Singley and wife, Nancy, of Ellenton, FL and Ronald Singley and wife, Crystal of Bloomsburg; four grandsons, one step grandson, one step granddaughter, six great grandchildren, five great step grandchildren, one great great grandson, and a special niece Catherine "Sis" Hetherington of Zion Grove.
Friends will be received Friday, June 21, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 22, at 10 am in St. Columba Catholic Church, with Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence, celebrant. Burial will be in New Rosemont Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Singley family.
