Terrie Ann (Williams) Bennett, age 57, of Bloomsburg, concluded her long battle against breast cancer on the morning of Wednesday, January 15, 2014, as a recent patient of the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, PA.
Terrie was born on Wednesday, September 26,1956 in Milton, a daughter of the late Edward and Patricia (Ellis) Williams. In 1974, Terrie completed her high school education, graduating from the Milton High School. She continued her education at York College and graduated with a teaching degree in 1978. Terrie expanded her education at Bloomsburg University, where she received a Master's Degree in 1982, focusing on literacy and reading. Shortly following her education, Terrie married her best friend and husband, Craig J. Bennett, on June 18, 1983.
Terrie was as a kindergarten teacher at the Beaver Main Elementary School. Terrie will always be remembered for her love of animals, especially dogs. Outside of caring for her family, she devoted much of her time to animal rescue, volunteering with the Mostly Mutts No-Kill Shelter in Sunbury. For many years, she was an aerobics instructor at Bloomsburg Health & Fitness Center and most recently, Bloomsburg SportsPlex. Terrie loved spending time with her family, playing tennis, walking her dogs, and riding bikes. She also honed and shared her skills in crocheting scarves and hats for cancer patients throughout the area. Terrie adored her family and fought a courageous battle, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 30 years, Craig J. Bennett, and her son, Gregory P. Bennett, of Coopersburg, PA. She is also survived by a brother: Kimber S. Williams and wife, Rose, of New Columbia, PA.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening, January 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg. Friends will also be received on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Tuesday morning, January 21 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with lead minister of the Bloomsburg Christian Church, Eric Miller, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Lightstreet Highland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Terrie's name are requested to be made to a local No-Kill Animal Shelter of the donor's choice.
