Obituary

Suzanne Moore, of Orangeville, passed away peacefully at home, after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday July 30, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 73. Suzanne was a wife, sister, mother, grandmother, teacher, and volunteer. She cared deeply for her family and surrounding community. Suzanne's life touched many people beyond her immediate family and friends.

Suzanne was a lifelong Orangeville resident. She was born on October 2, 1949, a daughter of the late C. Earl and Esther M. (Hess) Shaffer. She attended the Orangeville schools and was a 1967 graduate of Central Columbia High School. She continued her education at Bloomsburg State College, graduating with a secondary mathematics education degree in 1971.

Suzanne married the love of her life, Dale G. Moore, on November 5, 1971 and began their life together with a beautiful view of Knob Mountain and the land they loved.

Suzanne's life had many parts. BC (Before Children as she often joked), she was a high school mathematics teacher at Central Columbia. She retired from that career to raise her two children. In that part of her life, she became a 'professional volunteer' helping her husband with the farm and with the many various activities her children were involved with. She started the Girl Scout Troop and Boy Scout Troop in Orangeville so her children and neighbors could be involved. She also became involved in civic tasks when she worked as a secretary for both Orange Township and the Orangeville Borough including the John Buck Memorial Food Bank. As her children got older, she started a second career again teaching high school mathematics at Central Columbia. She retired in 2011 to enjoy spending more time with family and friends, traveling, gardening, and volunteering.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 51 years, Dale G. Moore, a daughter Nadeen Swab and husband Eric of Orangeville, a son Cale Moore of Boston, MA, two granddaughters, Maura Swab and Quinn Swab, three sisters, Eileen Shaffer, Gail Penman and husband David, and Penny Shaffer and wife Shirley.
