Susan Mae Long, age 77, of Catawissa, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at her home in Catawissa Twp., surrounded by her loving family and friends, where she lived for over 54 years.

Susan was born on Wednesday, January 7, 1948 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Hurl W. and Helen J. (Covert) Penman. She graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1965. Susan expanded her education by attending Williamsport Area Community College and graduated with an associate degree in medical transcriptionist.

On January 10, 1969, Susan married her loving husband, Paul E. Long. For many years, she was employed by Bloomsburg Hospital as a medical transcriptionist until her retirement. Susan was a member of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Bloomsburg. She enjoyed spending her time putting puzzles together and was an avid reader. Susan enjoyed gardening, her Koi fishpond and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending all their activities.

In addition to her parents, Susan was also preceded in death by her sister, Donna McNight.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 56 years, Paul E. Long of Catawissa; her two children: Tait Long and wife MaryAnn of Catawissa, Tara Young and husband Steve of Elysburg; two grandsons: Taylor Young of Danville and Cameron Young of Elysburg and two granddaughters: Olivia Long and Isabella Long, and her only nephew, Matthew Rex and wife Joyce all of Catawissa.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday March 1, 2025 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273, 110 Juniper St, Bloomsburg with Rev. Steven C. Hummel of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Bloomsburg, officiating. The Allen Funeral, Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Long family.
