Stephen C. "Steve" Wasilowsky, age 80, of Catawissa, rode his Harley through heaven's gate. He passed away on Tuesday morning, October 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family under the care of Compassus Hospice.
Steve was born on Monday, December 14, 1942 in Palmerton, a son of the late John O. Wasilowsky and Olivia C. (Kaul) Lopez. He faithfully served in the United State Marine Corps from 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1966, while serving he achieved his GED. On August 17, 1974, he married his loving wife the former Bonnie J. Baylor. He started in the construction field and then went to work for 15 years at the former Lehigh Valley Diary. For over 15 years, Steve was employed by Semmel Excavating as a Construction Worker until his retirement in 2011. He was a member of the Emanuel Reformed Church of Mainville. He was also a member of the American Legion, Quakertown, the Marine Corps Association, the North American Hunting Club and the NRA. Stephen enjoyed spending his time with his family, hunting, gambling in Las Vegas, riding his Harley and mowing grass.
In addition to his parents, Steve was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Rossi; a nephew, Jake Shuman; his father-in-law, Melvin E. Baylor; and a brother-in-law, Jim Shuman.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Bonnie Wasilowsky; a brother, John Wasilowsky of Palmerton; nieces, Lisa Aloisi of Long Island, NY, June Wasilowsky of Palmerton, Sara Becker and husband Joe of Bloomsburg, Carrie Shuman of Bloomsburg; nephews, John Wasilowsky of Palmerton, Josh Shuman of Bloomsburg, his mother-in-law, Joyce Baylor of Bloomsburg, a sister-in-law, Sue Shuman of Bloomsburg, a brother-in-law, Mel Baylor and wife Tina of Bloomsburg, a great-niece, Kortlyn Becker of Bloomsburg and a great-nephew, Eli Becker of Bloomsburg.
The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice, especially Susan Smith and the employees for such great care of Steve.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Emanuel Reformed Church of Mainville, 146 Church Road, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at Emanuel Reformed Church of Mainville with Rev. Robert Hettinger, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Emanuel Reformed Cemetery with military honors provided by The Catawissa VFW Post #8306 Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Wasilowsky family.
