Sonja Leigh Ulrich, 61, of Catawissa passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, spontaneity, and love that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Born in Danville on March 1, 1965 as Sonja Leigh Knight, she attended Bloomsburg Area School District and Columbia Montour Vocational-Technical School. Throughout the years, Sonja held various jobs, with much of her professional experience in customer service and hospitality. Her friendly, outgoing nature and ability to connect with others made her well suited for work that brought her into contact with people from all walks of life.
Sonja was a vibrant, friendly, and outgoing woman who had a gift for making people feel welcome. She never needed a special occasion to spread kindness; it was simply part of who she was. She was also incredibly smart and creative, and her imagination knew no limits. With a talent for arts and crafts and a knack for upcycling, she could turn just about anything into something beautiful or useful. She loved thrifting and visiting yard sales, always seeing potential in things others might overlook. Her creativity extended into the kitchen, where she was an amazing cook who brought people together through food and the love she put into every dish.
Music and dancing brought Sonja joy, and she adored spending time with the people who meant the most to her. She enjoyed playing cards and word games with friends, binge-watching TV shows together, and cuddling with her cat. Above all else, her family was her world. Her three daughters and two granddaughters were her absolute pride and joy, holding the most special places in her heart. The love she had for them was immeasurable, and the memories they shared will be treasured always.
Sonja is survived by her three beloved daughters and their significant others, Alicia Eisenhauer and Eric Heier of Bloomsburg, Talitha Jordan and Matthew Mensch of Mainville, and Clarissa and Avery Fox of Danville; her two cherished granddaughters, Aliyah Curio of Lightstreet and Miley Jordan of Gordon; her brothers, Antony Knight of Milton and Richard Knight of Shippensburg; her cat, Sassafras; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Knight and Alice (Fulcomer) George, as well as her brother, Andrew Knight.
Sonja's life is a reminder that joy can be found in the simplest moments, that creativity can transform the ordinary into something extraordinary, and that a little kindness can make a lasting difference. Her laughter, warmth, resourcefulness, and unmistakable spirit will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Sonja's life will be hosted by her family at the Catawissa VFW on Saturday, November 14th, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Feel free to come dressed in purple, which was her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a small donation to the non-profit organization Friends and Ferals in Sonja’s honor. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., of Bloomsburg, is honored to serve Sonja’s family. Online messages of comfort and support may be left at www.allen-funeralhome.com.
