Sharon Denise (Shaffer) Speser, age 59, formerly of Danville and South Williamsport, died on Monday, February 17, 2014 a patient of the Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Sharon had been failing with ill health for the past several years.
Sharon was born on Wednesday, December 15, 1954 in Williamsport, a daughter of Duane and Evelyn (Zeisloft) Shaffer of Millville. Throughout her earlier years, Sharon attended and later graduated from the South Williamsport High School in 1972. Sharon expanded her education following high school while attending the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduating with a degree in Microbiology in 1976. For many years, she was employed by Geisinger Medical Center in Danville as a Microbiology Technician. Most recently, Sharon was employed by the Johns Hopkins Medical Center for over nine years. While residing locally in Pennsylvania, Sharon was an active member of the Grove Presbyterian Church in Danville.
In addition to her parents, Sharon is survived by two daughters: Sara Speser of Quincy, IL; and Samantha Speser of Baltimore, MD; and a brother: Michael Shaffer and wife, Pat, of Elimsport.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday evening, February 22 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 107 West Main at Railroad Street, Millville.
Funeral services will also begin on Saturday evening, at 6 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Millville with personal friend, Rev. Dr. Robert Andrews of the Grove Presbyterian Church in Danville, officiating. Graveside services will be held on Monday morning, February 24 at 10 a.m. in the Jerseytown Cemetery, Madison Township.
