Sara I. (Wolfe) Rubenstein, age 87, of Mifflinville, died on Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2015 a resident of Emeritus Assisted Living of Bloomsburg since March of 2013.
Sara was born on Tuesday, July 5, 1927, in Ringtown, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late William and Emily (Strausser) Wolfe. Throughout her younger years, she attended the Bloomsburg area schools and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1945. On November 27, 1946, Sara married her loving husband, Donald E. Rubenstein, Sr. of Bloomsburg. They were devoted members of the St. John Lutheran Church in Mifflinville for many years, and volunteered faithfully at many of the church's events until their health would not allow. For over 42 years, Sara was employed as a Seamstress for the Milco Industries in Bloomsburg until her retirement in 1989. Sara loved sharing her time with her grandchildren, and the family will always cherish her many quilting and sewing projects.
In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by a sister: Ruth Ann Sponenburg; two brothers: William Wolfe and Robert Wolfe and also by a grandson: Lucas Miller.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 68 years, Donald E. Rubenstein, Sr., of Bloomsburg; a daughter Linda Chapin and husband, Dennis, of Berwick; two sons: Donald E. Rubenstein, Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Berwick; and Richard A. Rubenstein and fiancé, Paula Benjamin, also of Berwick; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and two siblings: Esther Hartman of Nescopeck and Leslie Wolfe and wife, Jane, of Berwick.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening, March 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg. A time of Visitation will also be held on Thursday morning, March 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. also at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday morning, March 5 at 11 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge.
