Sara M. Girton, age 58, of East Street, Bloomsburg died Sunday, January 02, 2011 at the Bloomsburg Health Care Center where she was admitted on December 28. Sara was born in Bloomsburg on Friday, May 30, 1952, a daughter of the late James G. and Frances Arlene Evans Hunsinger.
She was a 1970 graduate of the Bloomsburg High School. Sara was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy and the Ladies Auxiliary Ft. McClure VFW Post 804 and Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273, both of Bloomsburg.
Survivors include her companion of 34 years: George "Joe" Brenan; four sisters: Nancy Newhart and husband, Kenneth, of Espy; Rosalie Newhart of Berwick; Mary "Fran" Swisher and husband, Charles, of Catawissa and Hazel Girton and husband, Gary, of Danville; and three brothers: James H. Hunsinger and companion, Jean, of Mainville; Bruce W. Hunsinger and wife, Donna, of Danville and Lloyd "Butch" J. Hunsinger and companion, Janet, of Bloomsburg. Sara was preceded in death by a brother George P. Hunsinger in 1965 and a sister: Shirley Titman in 2003.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Gordon Smith, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in New Rosemont Cemetery. The Girton Family is being assisted by the Allen Funeral Home of 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
