Sandra D. Stair, age 61, of Sereno Hollow Road, Millville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 29, 2012 in Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, where she had resided since Friday. Sandy was born on Friday, July 13, 1951, in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Karl and Blanche (Longenberger) Davis. She was a 1969 graduate of the Bloomsburg High School.
Sandy was employed for over 20 years by the Millville School District as a school cook. She enjoyed friendships with faculty, students and staff, and reluctantly retired in 2009 due to her health. She was a member of The Christian Gospel Fellowship in Iola. Following her retirement, she was a volunteer for the National Park Service. During the previous two summers, she also helped in the office of Hadley's Campground in Bar Harbor, Maine, and her winters were spent in Everglades City, Florida. Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Camping in the national parks with her family all across the United States was an important and enjoyable summer activity. Also, many of their family summers were spent at Bob's Lake in Ontario, Canada where they created many fond memories.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Timothy J. Stair, to whom she married on August 2, 1975; a daughter: Jennifer Varner of Millville; a son: Eric T. Stair and wife, Venus, of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren: A.J., Sophie, Oriana and Noah. Also surviving are five siblings: Shirley O'Malias and husband, Joseph, of Sun City, AZ; Joyce Fisher of Bloomsburg; Judy Neiswender and husband, Joseph, of Bloomsburg; Sharon Davis of Berwick; and Roger Davis and wife, Joan, of Bloomsburg. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter "Butch" Davis in 1962.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday morning, August 1 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Christian Gospel Fellowship, St. Route 42 (Iola), Millville.
Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, August 1 at 11 a.m. at the church with her pastor, Rev. Paul C. Converse, Sr. officiating. Graveside services will be in Millville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 107 West Main at Railroad St., Millville, PA.
