Sandra J. (Sholly) Houser, age 76, of Zion Grove, died on Thursday evening, April 16, 2015 a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Sandra was born on Monday, March 13, 1939, in Selinsgrove, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Lindenmuth) Sholly. Throughout her younger years, Sandra attended the Nuremburg area schools, and graduated from the Nuremburg High School in 1957. On February 22, 1958, Sandra married her husband, George H. Houser, of Shumans, Pennsylvania. Sandra and her husband raised their family in Zion Grove. Sandra dedicated her life to raising her children and caring for her family. She and her husband were faithful members of the Almedia Bible Church for many years where she also served as President of the Ladies Missionary Group and on the Sunshine Club. Sandra greatly enjoyed being a scorekeeper for YMCA and church league softball for many years
In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, George H. Houser, who passed on June 5, 2011. Also preceding her was a brother: William Sholly, Jr. and also a sister: Paula Garonski.
Survivors include her daughter: Renae Miller and husband, Randy, of Bloomsburg; and her son: Robin Houser and wife, Joan, of Danville; four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; also a brother: Barry Sholly of Bensalem, and a sister: Edie Urbanski of Sunbury.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening, April 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Tuesday morning, April 21 at 10 a.m. also from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Larry Smith, officiating and also assisted by Rev. Timothy Smith. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Houser and Miller families.
