Samuel J. Sock, age 74, of Bloomsburg, died on Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the Orangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center where he resided since September 17, 2013.
Sam was born on Saturday, January 6, 1940 in Shamokin, a son of the late Florian Sock, Sr. and Minerva (Christ) Sock. Sam attended the Coal Township schools. He was of the Catholic faith.
Most of his working life, Sam was employed by Kawneer of Bloomsburg. He retired with over 20 years of service.
In 1997, Samuel married Sandra Boone who survives. Also surviving is a daughter: Angel Sock of Shamokin; two step-daughters: Melissa Marx and husband, Donald, of Auburn GA and Denise Stevens of Jefferson GA; a step-son: Christopher Boone and wife, Jody, of Cape Coral FL; a sister Jean Laczkoski of Coal Township and a brother: Florian Sock, Jr. and wife, Laura of Milton.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by a sister: Joan Purcell and two brothers; William Sock and Edward Sock.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 29 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Tuesday afternoon, April 29 at 2 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence, of the St. Columba Catholic Parish, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Sock family.
