Ruth I. (Pegg) Eyerly, age 87, of Stillwater, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. Ruth was a resident of Stillwater for over 40 years and previously lived in Bloomsburg.
Ruth was born on Friday, December 13, 1929 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Kimber Larue Pegg and Pearl Carola (Brooking) Pegg Tedesco. Throughout her younger years, she attended the Bloomsburg Area schools, and later graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1947. In November, 1951, Ruth married her loving husband Charles M. Eyerly, Sr., who preceded her in death on April 11, 2011.
Ruth was first employed at Silco Retail Store, she also worked at J.C. Penney's, Nichol's Department Store, Pharmhouse, American Greeting Card Company and last at Valley Toy Distributors where she retired in 2007 on her 77th birthday. Ruth was a member of the former Bloomsburg Nazarene Church. She enjoyed spending her time reading, listening to old time music, watching baseball and football games, puzzles and spending time with her family. She liked flowers, trees and working in the yard. Her favorite hymn was Softly and Tenderly. Ruth has many warm memories of gatherings of her large family and friends while her husband was still in good health.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was also preceded by a brother, Kimber L. Pegg, Jr.
Survivors include her children, Charles M. Eyerly, Jr. and wife Shirley of Stillwater; Eileen R. wife of Joseph Donato of Conyngham and Thomas P. Eyerly of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren, Tara wife of Jeffrey Stauffer of Bloomsburg; Jonathan Dolbear and wife Aubrey of Philadelphia; Michael Podlesney and spouse Dave Guldner of West Chester; Colton Eyerly and companion Nicole Fenkner of Freeland; six great grandchildren, Lukas and Jacob Stauffer; Addix Eyerly; Abby and Ashley Podlesney and Lily Dolbear. She is also survived by her brother, Roy Pegg and wife Marlene of Pasadena, MD; sister, Cheryl wife of Elmer "Moe" Robbins of Bloomsburg and sister in law, Betty Pegg, Bloomsburg.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday, December 14 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, December 14 at 1:00 pm also at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Steven C. Hummel, pastor of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Eyerly family.
