Ruth E. Fenstermacher, 89, a resident of The Gardens at Orangeville, formerly of Bloomsburg, left this world on January 21, 2021, to go home to her Lord.
Ruth was born August 4, 1931, in Johnstown to Andrew and Anna (Marchick) Ditko.
A member of the National Honor Society, Ruth graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1950 of Johnstown High School.
She worked for several companies in her lifetime, including DeRoys Jewelry, Westinghouse M&R, Bell Telephone, Morris Paper company, and she retired from Sears after working 20 years in the catalogue department.
Ruth loved doing crossword puzzles, cryptograms, working in her yard, knitting, crocheting, sewing and always enjoyed trying new crafts. She was proud to have sewn her daughter's wedding dress. She enjoyed teaching others how to knit, crochet and sew. Ruth also enjoyed drawing and while in high school had an art piece on display in a Pittsburgh museum. Ruth was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg where she sang in the choir for several years.
Ruth married Delbert C. Fenstermacher on May 19, 1956. They were married for 42 years before his death in 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great-granddaughter Mackenzie A. Milheim in 2020, and a sister Nancy E. Ditko in 1990.
Surviving are her sons Charles "Chuck" Fenstermacher of Orangeville, Terry Fenstermacher of Bloomsburg, David Fenstermacher and wife Kathy of Elyburg, Donald Fenstermacher and wife Kelly of Bloomsburg; daughter Dale (Fenstermacher) Milheim and companion Fred Robinson of Berwick; sisters Margaret and Charlotte Ditko of Johnstown; brothers Ronald Ditko and wife Joyce of Park Hill, PA and Robert Ditko and wife Loretta of Rochester, New York, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday, January 27, at 1 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with her pastor, Rev. Mark F. Reisinger, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Fenstermacher family.
