Ruth E. DeWald, age 83, of Mt. Pleasant Township, Bloomsburg for over 55 years died on Saturday, October 1, 2011 a resident of Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since 2004.
Ruth was born on Wednesday, June 13, 1928 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Donald V. and Katherine (Evans) Shultz. During her childhood years, she attended the Bloomsburg Area Schools for her education. After becoming a wife and mother, she dedicated her time and love to her children and family. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends as well as helping with church luncheons and events. She and her husband were faithful members of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Millville for many years. On November 26, 2006, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 60 years, the late Robert B. DeWald. Prior to the time of his passing, they lived together as residents of Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Orangeville.
Surviving family members include three children: Kay F. Marks and husband, Roy, of Winfield, PA; Robert B. DeWald, Jr. of N. Myrtle Beach, NC; and Deb J. Jones of Watsontown, PA; three grandchildren: Steve Lyons of Milton, PA; Leisa Smith of Tennessee; and Michelle Vancisse of North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Donald Shultz and wife, Mary, of Bloomsburg; and John E. Shultz of Nazareth, PA. Ruth was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Schrader in 1982.
A public time of Visitation will be held on Monday, October 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 4 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Rev. Timothy Valiente, officiating. Graveside services will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
