Ruth Coder Brewer, age 89, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at her home in Scott Township, under the care of Compassus Hospice.
Ruth was born on Wednesday, December 9, 1936 in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late May (Coder) Pletcher. She graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1954. Ruth expanded her education by attending Williamsport Hosp. School of Nursing. On December 27, 1958, Ruth married her loving husband, David K. Brewer, who preceded her in death on August 29, 2021. For many years, she was employed by the American Red Cross as a Registered Nurse until her retirement. Ruth was a member of the Shiloh Bible Church, Bloomsburg. She enjoyed spending her time gardening, crocheting, making stained glass, completing crossword puzzles, reading, and singing in church. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
In addition to her mother and husband, Ruth was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank Pletcher.
Survivors include her five beloved children: Nancy Brewer Danganan and husband Eduardo of Saint Marys City, MD, Daniel Brewer and wife Carol of Bloomsburg, Linda Brewer of West Palm Beach, FL, Dean Brewer and wife Ruth of Bloomsburg, Douglas Brewer and wife Brenda of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren: Noah Brewer Houghton of Webster, TX, Makiah Brewer, Lincoln Brewer, Hudson Brewer, all three of Bloomsburg, two siblings: Ellen Pletcher of Williamsport, David Pletcher and wife Sunae of Farmville, VA.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Shiloh Bible Church, 123 Church Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Shiloh Bible Church with Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Brewer family.
