Ruth Elizabeth "Betty" Williams, age 86, of Danville, died on Thursday morning, October 23, 2014 at home surrounded by family and under the care of Columbia Montour Home Hospice.
Betty was born on Wednesday, July 25, 1928 in Kingston, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late William Leroy and Ruth H. (Owens) Coleman, Sr. In 1947, Betty concluded her education after graduating from the Kingston High School. Betty was one of the first women to become a Pennsylvania Licensed Motion Picture Projectionists as she was employed at her father's movie theaters. On February 16, 1955, Betty married her loving husband Hendrick "Moe" E. Williams, Sr. of Danville. After moving to the Bloomsburg area, Betty was employed as manager of the former HC Drug Store and then as a short-order cook for many of the former restaurants such as Ent's Restaurant Twin Hills Restaurant and Hud's Restaurant. She was also a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Grovania for many years.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a son: Ronald L. Williams in 1991, and also by a brother: William Leroy Coleman, Jr. in 1986.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 59 years, Hendrick "Moe" E. Williams, Sr. of Bloomsburg; a son Hendrick "Rick" E. Williams, Jr. and wife, Kathleen, of Dunkirk, NY; three grandchildren: Ryan L. Williams of Danville; Stacey M. Williams and Trenton A. Williams, both of Dunkirk, NY; two great-grandchildren: Camden Williams and Lilyana Beck.
Betty thoroughly enjoyed cooking and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening, October 26, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Monday morning 10:30 a.m. also from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Rev. Gretchen Johansen, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Williams family.
