Russell L. Kressler, age 86, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday evening, May 14, 2021, at the home of his son in Lebanon under the care of hospice. Russell was a resident of Bloomsburg all of his life.
He was born on Sunday, December 9, 1934 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Earl Leroy Kressler and Eva Mae (Hawk) Robinson. Throughout his younger years, Russell attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1952. Russell was a self employed electrician and also worked for The State Correctional Institute, Frackville as an electrician until his retirement on July 25, 1997. He was a member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Civil Air Patrol, he helped build homes for Habitat For Humanity, and was active in the Tuberculosis Society. Russell enjoyed spending his time playing the organ, boating, feeding wild animals, and helping friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, Russell was also preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Ann Persing, his second wife, June Perry Kressler, his third wife, Shirley F. Kressler, a step-daughter, Sherry L. Weaver, and a brother, Richard Kressler.
Survivors include his three beloved children; daughter, Susan J. Kressler of State College, son, David L. Kressler and wife Michelle of Lebanon, daughter, Sharon J. Kressler of Minneapolis, MN, six grandchildren, Bryon Kressler, Brandon Hummer, David Kressler, II and wife Diane, Jallel Kressler and wife Contessa, Camar Mershon and husband Chris, Zachary Kressler, eleven great-grandchildren. Five step-children, April Novitski and husband Victor of Bloomsburg, Jacqueline Bowden of Bloomsburg, Cheryl Ann Chik and husband Alex of Monroe, CT, Daniel S. McKinney of Irish Valley, Michael S. McKinney and wife Lettie of Sunbury, and several step great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Jennifer Parks-Snyder, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Kressler family.
