Rosie E. (Tedesco) Derr, age 89, a life-long resident of Bloomsburg, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012.
Rosie was born on Thursday, May 24, 1923 in Lightstreet, a daughter of the late Anthony and Martha (Lawton) Tedesco. She was a member of the 1941 Graduating Class of the Bloomsburg High School. Following her education, she was employed by the Magee Carpet Company in Bloomsburg for over 27 years. In 1987, Rosie retired from the Bloomsburg Mills, Inc. after her employment for over eight years. When her time allowed, Rosie enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City and also playing cards. Rosie enjoyed spending time with her children, family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
On January 8, 2007, Rosie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, the late Harry A. Derr, Sr. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Cortez Tedesco and a sister, Jean Williams.
Survivors include her two sons: Harry A. Derr, Jr. and Robert E. Derr and wife, Sherry Louise, both of Danville; and also by her five grandchildren: Tracy Sharp of Auxvasse, MO, Donovan E. Derr of Newport, PA; Jonathan D. Derr of Riverside; James L. Derr of Stroudsburg; and Harry A. Derr III of Columbia, MD; 12 great-grandchildren and also by her five sisters: Patsy Comer and husband, Marty; Helen Daniels and husband, Richard; Molly Ferraira and husband, Robert; Sandra Hawkey and husband, Robert, all of Bethlehem; and Shirley Licsko of Florida.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 11 from 1 to 2 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will also be held on Tuesday, December 11 at 2 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg with the Reverend Jeffrey G. Bohan, officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge.
