Rosemary Dent, age 98, of Bloomsburg, passed into the embrace of her Lord on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, a patient of the Sunset Ridge Healthcare Center in Scott Township where she has resided for the past four years.
She was born on Saturday, February 7, 1920 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Herman C. and Minnie (Naylor) Snyder. Throughout her younger years, Rosemary attended the Bloomsburg Normal School, graduating from the Bloomsburg High School in 1938. Rosemary expanded her education by attending Frankford Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia, graduating in 1941. On September 13, 1941, she married her loving husband Harold T. "Jim" Dent who preceded her in death on September 12, 2006. Along with her husband, Rosemary was Co Owner of the former Dent Nursing Home and a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1973. Rosemary was a member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church and a former member of The Order of the Eastern Star. Rosemary enjoyed spending her time gardening, playing pinochle, she was a member of the recycled teenage breakfast club, was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, she was well known for her sugar cookies and homemade ice cream. She loved to play with her grandkids on the farm. She and her husband, Jim enjoyed spending winters in Riverview, FL.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rosemary was also preceded by a son, James H. Dent on February 3,2005, a sister, Phyllis Fetterolf, and a brother, Warren Snyder.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sally J. wife of Roger L. Chamberlain of Bloomsburg, Bonnie S. Stevens wife of Steven Reichard of Sugar Run, PA, eight grandchildren, Timothy T. Chamberlain and wife Michele of Bloomsburg, Chadwick R. Chamberlain and wife Patti of Bloomsburg, Steven J. Chamberlain and wife Sarah of Gilbertsville, PA, Lydia C. wife of Timothy Moyer of Bloomsburg, Lorna S. wife of Robert Zeplin of Orwigsburg, Joel D. Stevens and wife Jessica of Peoria, AZ, James H. Dent, II and wife Jennifer of Bloomsburg, Audra wife of Colby Bingaman of Greencastle, PA, and 14 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at The Lightstreet United Methodist Church, 1640 Main St., Bloomsburg with her pastor Rev. Dr. Jennifer Parks Snyder, officiating.
