Ronald "Chick" Pierce Fetterman, age 66, formerly of Catawissa, died on Monday, June 17, 2013 a patient of the Kindred Hospital in Ocala, Florida. Chick was most recently a resident of his home in The Villages, Florida since 2006.
Chick was born on Tuesday, November 19, 1946 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Pierce S. and Mildred (Frees) Fetterman. He completed his education in 1964 as a member of the Graduating Class of the Southern Columbia High School. Immediately following his education, Chick enlisted with the United States Navy where he served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War. On November 8, 1967, Chick was honorably discharged from his time of dedicated service to his country. On August 17, 1968, Chick married his beloved wife of 44 years, Joan A. Buonassisi. After returning home from the service, Chick was employed for over 34 years by the former Merck Pharmaceutical Co. in Riverside until his retirement in 2006. Chick will always be remembered by his family and friends for his love of golfing and his continued passion as a classic car enthusiast.
In addition to his wife, Chick is survived by a daughter: Michelle Fyock and husband, Michael, of Walkersville, MD; a son: Michael Fetterman and wife, Tyuh, of Clover, SC; five grandchildren and also a sister: Judith Krum and husband, Harold, of Bloomsburg.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 24 from 10 to 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Monday, June 24 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc, Bloomsburg with Rev. Jake Woodward of the Catawissa First United Methodist Church, officiating. Gravesides services with full Military Honors provided by a combined VFW/American Legion group will immediately follow in Lime Ridge.
