Robert N. Shaw, age 74, of Bloomsburg, died on Monday morning, June 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by family and under the care of Columbia Montour Home Hospice.
Bob was born on Tuesday, January 3, 1939 in Hyde, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Montgomery and Germaine (Vermeulen) Shaw. In 1957, Bob graduated from the Clearfield High School. On November 11, 1959, Bob married his wife of over 53 years, Patricia (Hudsick) Shaw. After graduation, Bob served his country proudly for over nine years with the United States Army National Guard. Bob was inducted into the Pennsylvania State Police Academy where he graduated and served as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for over 25 years. In 1990, Bob retired from the PA State Police after being stationed at the Bloomsburg State Police Barracks for most of his 25 years
Bob will always be remembered by his grandchildren for his faithfulness in attending all of their sporting events. Bob loved nothing more than to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren either at family gatherings or at the camp. He greatly enjoyed his time of retirement, but especially loved being a dedicated family man.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Patricia, is a daughter: Barbara Flick and husband, Jim, of Bloomsburg; two sons: James Shaw also of Bloomsburg; and Jeffrey N. Shaw of Nescopeck; a son-in-law: Tony R. Creveling of Bloomsburg; seven grandchildren: Cody Creveling, Jamie and Katie Shaw, Tyler, Jarrod, Karissa and Matthew Flick and two great-grandsons: Kaydim Reigel and Mason Creveling: a sister: Violet Keller of Clearfield; and two brothers: Raymond Shaw of Clearfield and Ted Shaw and wife, Mary, of Niagara Falls, NY.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter: Jill Shaw-Creveling on October 23, 2012 and also by a brother: Blain Shaw in 1969 following an accident.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 6 from 10 – 11 a.m. from the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church, 6405 4th Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
Funeral services will also begin on Thursday, June 6 at 11 a.m. from the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Edward Cope and Rev. Christian Dunlap, Hospice Chaplain, officiating.
