Obituary

Robert D. Robbins , age 79, of Bloomsburg, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, surrounded by his family at home under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice. Robert was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over 39 years.
Bob was born on Wednesday, October 21, 1936 in Main Township, a son of the late Orville and Florence (Drake) Robbins. Throughout his younger years, Robert attended the Mainville area schools and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1959.
On June 29, 1963, Robert married his loving wife, Carol J.(Wittig) Robbins. For over 43 years, Robert was employed by Mainville Furniture until his retirement in 1991. Never completely retiring, Bob followed his love of being active and was known as "The Lawnmower Man". He mowed grass, raked leaves and shoveled snow long into "retirement".
Robert was a member of the First English Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending his time woodworking and doing handicrafts.
In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded by sister, Shirley Cunningham.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Carol J. (Wittig) Robbins; two daughters: Bonnie L. Shoemaker and husband, Donald, of Berwick and Wendy M. Lizardi of Bloomsburg, two sons: Alan S. Robbins of Bloomsburg and Brett R. Robbins and fiance, Liz, of Bloomsburg, PA, 7 grandchildren: Kari Shoemaker, Kyle Shoemaker, Erin Shoemaker,Devin Shoemaker, Christopher Lizardi, Daniel Lizardi and Trinity Robbins: a great grandson, Matthew Lizardi: a sister: Nancy Broyan of Bloomsburg and a brother: James O. Robbins and wife, Phyllis, of Pine Valley, NY.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc 745 Market at Eighth St.,Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 10:00 am at the First English Baptist Church, 700 Millville Rd., Bloomsburg with Rev. Dr. Lee Barnhardt, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Robbins family.
