Obituary

Robert Lang, age 84, of S. Fourth Street, Catawissa died on Tuesday evening, April 24, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family under the care of Columbia Montour Home Hospice.
Robert was born on Sunday, January 15, 1928 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Frances and Jane (Mitchel) Lang. He received his education while attending the Bloomsburg Area Schools. On April 3, 1945, he enlisted with the United States Army and later with the United States Air Force. He served his country faithfully during World War II, the Korean Conflict and also the Vietnam War. On January 1, 1970, he concluded a total of 21 years of service in the United States Armed Forces after obtaining the Rank of Tech Sergeant. Following his time of service, he returned to his home in Catawissa, where he continued to work for the U.S. Postal Service, delivering mail to residence in the Catawissa Borough. Robert enjoyed spending his time going on walks, playing Sudoku and crossword puzzles, cheering on his favorite sports teams and visiting friends at the Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273. Most of all, as a devoted family man, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, were two sisters: Mary Crawford and Joanne Preis; as well as three brothers: Frances Lang, Jr., John "Jack" Lang, and Joseph Lynch.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, Jessie (Sands) Lang, having been married on November 16, 1957. Also surviving are his three daughters: Susan Britch and husband, Steven, of Catawissa; Andrina Snyder and husband, Scott, also of Catawissa; and Elaine Clark and husband, Timothy, of Alabama; five brothers: Walter Lang and wife, Margaret, Newport News, VA; Clair Lang and wife, Carol, of Indianapolis, IN; James Lang and wife, Patricia, of Maine; William Lang and wife, Laverne, of Catawissa; and Michael Lang and wife, Karen, also of Indianapolis; as well as two sisters: Eleanor Leisenring and husband, Charles, of Shamokin; and Janet Levan and husband, James, of Elysburg; and two sister-in-laws: Lois Lang and Constance Lynch both of Maryland.
In respect with Robert's wishes and at the request of the family, all viewings and services will be held privately. The Lang family is being assisted by the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
