Robert L. "Cy" Bucher , age 85, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, April 6, 2017, a patient of the Grandview Health and Rehab, Danville. Robert was a resident of Bloomsburg his entire life and had been ill for 7 months.
Robert was born on Saturday, November 7, 1931 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Edward and Atta (Stauffer) Bucher. Throughout his younger years, Robert attended the Bloomsburg schools. Following high school he faithfully served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the US Army. He served with the 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles".
On January 22, 1955, Robert married his loving wife the former, Barbara Crawford of Bloomsburg. After his military service Robert was employed by Magee Carpet Co. for over 20 years. He was then employed by Hotel Magee for 20 years and after his formal retirement he worked at the Danville Auto Auction. Robert was of the Lutheran faith and was a life member of Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273.
In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded by five siblings: Hazel Kessler, Madeline Moyer, Martha Shaffer,Edward Bucher, and Harry Bucher.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara Bucher; two children: Cindy Coombe (Dale) of Linden and Dennis L. Bucher (Debra) of Bloomsburg; grandchildren: Jenna B. McWilliams (Brian) of Montoursville, Kyle L. Bauman and Nathan Wheeler both of Bloomsburg; great grandchildren: Alex and Raegan McWilliams and two siblings: Joan Keyser and Ralph Bucher, both of Bloomsburg.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to be serving the Bucher family.
