Robert D. Kountz, age 89, a life-long resident of Bloomsburg, died on Monday morning, November 20, 2017, at his home and under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice.
Robert was born on Tuesday, August 28, 1928 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late John E. and Lois L. (Farnsworth) Kountz. Throughout his younger years, Bob graduated with the Bloomsburg High School Class of 1949. For over 20 years, Bob was employed as a security personnel by both the former Hills Department Store in Buckhorn and the former Bloomsburg Mills walking the floors of the weaving department until his retirement in 1993. Bob also worked security for a short time in Goulds, Florida. Bob was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church throughout his younger years. In addition to caring for family, Bob always enjoyed tinkering with electronics and television repairs.
In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded by two brothers: James F. Kountz in 1953 and Jack F. Kountz in December of 2012.
Survivors include his beloved spouse of 35 years, Mary E. Kountz of Bloomsburg, a son, Robert John Kountz of Bloomsburg and a sister-in-law, P.J. Johnson of Bloomsburg
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening, November 26, from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Monday morning, November 27 at 11 a.m. also from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg in with Rev. Dr. Gary D. Weaver, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Kountz family.
