Robert J. Kimsal, 89, formerly of Bloomsburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, a resident of the Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Health Center, Berwick.
Robert was born on Saturday, May 30, 1936 in Mt. Carmel, a son of the late Victor J. and Catherine (Suchocki) Kimsal. He graduated from the Catawissa High School in 1955, and faithfully served in the United States Army from August 12, 1959 until being honorably discharged August 2, 1961. During his tenure in the Army, he received commendation for his exceptional organizational skills. On October 7, 1961, Robert married his loving wife, the former Shirley M. Dent, who preceded him in death on October 5, 2024. He enjoyed a 58 year career at Dillon Floral, Bloomsburg, until his retirement in 2013. Robert was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. A member of Council 2290, Bloomsburg, he was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. Robert took great pride in maintaining his property, whether mowing grass, trimming hedges or simply puttering around. He loved fishing in Canada, and most of all, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents and wife, Shirley M. Dent, Robert was also preceded in death by four siblings: Victor L. Kimsal, Joseph K. Kimsal, Rita Kunsaitis and Charlotte R. Fry.
Survivors include his three beloved children: Anita Hubler and husband, Guy, of Bloomsburg, Jacquelyn Haeckler and partner, Stephen Gori, of Danville, Vincent Kimsal and wife, Kelly, of White Haven; five grandchildren: Amanda Prueitt and husband, Ben, of Royersford, Elizabeth Haeckler of Pittsburgh, Clayton Kimsal of Atlanta, GA, Edwin Kimsal of White Haven, Olivia Hubler of Bloomsburg; also a great-granddaughter, Ayla Prueitt, three siblings: Bernard Kimsal and wife, Teresa, of Berwick, Mary Rinehimer and husband, Dale, of Berwick and Dolores Sugaleski of Muncy.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 11:00 am at the St. Columba Catholic Church with Rev. Richard J. Mowery, Celebrant. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg. Military honors will be provided by the Columbia County Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market Street, Bloomsburg, is honored to be serving the Kimsal family.
