Robert L. "Bob" Carson, age 80, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. He was born on November 7, 1941 and was the son of the late Ernest "Kit" and Matie (Townsend) Carson.

He earned his B.A. and master's degree from Bloomsburg University and attended Lehigh University as a Doctoral Candidate studying literature. Bob was a well-liked and respected professor of literature at Luzerne County Community College for several decades. He taught many English composition classes over the years but was best known for his Creative Writing course and the college literary magazine "Augustine". The yearly magazine was something very special to Bob and to those involved with the poetry, short pieces of fiction and artwork, which certainly put LCCC in a positive light each and every year of its publication.

Mr. Carson was very fond of the care of domestic animals and wildlife, especially at his farm on Oman Road. Bob was happiest when watching the deer, turkey and other wildlife roaming in the fields and was always grateful for the legacy "Grandpa" Townsend had left him. He wanted the land preserved for many generations to come instead of being sold off for mercenary gain.

Bob was never one to follow the herd but was an independent minded individual that always walked his own path whether it was an easy one or not. He will be missed by those who appreciated his clever wit and keen intelligence as well as his cousin Connie Christian and his longtime friends Jeff and Sherrie.

Graveside funeral services will begin on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Lightstreet (Highland) Cemetery with Rev. Michael Spagnuolo, pastor of Catawissa Christian Church, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Carson family.
