Robert R. (Bob) Reeder Sr., age 81, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, November 16, at his Scott Twp. residence. Bob was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over 50 years.
Bob was born on Wednesday, June 17, 1936 in Montoursville, a son of the late V. Dale and Ruth F. (Dangle) Reeder. A 1954 graduate of Montoursville High School, he also received Master's Degrees from The Pennsylvania State University and The University of Colorado. For nearly three decades, Bob was employed by The Bloomsburg University as an Anthropology Professor until his retirement in 1996, prior to Bloomsburg University, Bob also taught at Grove City College, Western Kentucky University, Lehigh University and as an Adjunct Professor at Penn State Hazleton campus. An enthusiastic golfer, he also served as head golf coach at Bloomsburg University for several years and was a longtime member of Frosty Valley Country Club, Danville. He enjoyed spending his time teaching and mentoring, particularly on the subject of the civil war and had a love for animals including his two cats.
Survivors include his four children, Cathleen E. wife of Tony Reed of Catawissa, Robert R. Reeder, Jr. and wife Jody of Selinsgrove, Lauren L. Morgan and companion Lawrence Toscano of Canonsburg and Elizabeth C. Reeder of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Gabrielle A. Reed, Zachary A. Diehl, Rachyl R. wife of Josh Sikora, Robert R. Reeder, III, Roman R. Reeder, Chase W. Morgan, Brooke H. Morgan. Additional survivors include two brothers, Eugene Reeder of New York City and Gary Reeder and wife Jeanne of Montoursville and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bob's life on Saturday December 2, 2017 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at The Lightstreet Hotel, 1361 Main Street, Bloomsburg, which he fondly referred to as his "second family".
