Robert G. Black, Jr. age 73 of 175 Worman St. Bloomsburg died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at his home following a lengthy illness. He had been a resident of his Espy home for four years. Born in Staten Island on October 4, 1936, Robert was the son of the late Robert G. Black, Sr. and Margaret Anderson Black.
In 1954, Bob graduated from the Morris Central School, Morris, NY and in 1956 he graduated from the State University of New York. He was a peace time veteran having served with the United States Navy.
Mr. Black was employed by Heinz Pet Products, retiring in 2001 as a supervisor. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Espy.
Survivors include his wife: Jolene (Long) Black; children: Robert G. Black III and his wife, Mary, of Clinton IA; Kathleen Brockert of Port Richey FL; Barbara Black of Tampa FL; Diane Black of Tucson AZ; Michael M. Thork of Nescopeck, Billy Joe Thork and his wife, Julie, of Berwick; Rachele Hidlay and her husband, Jason, of Berwick and Tim Thork and his wife, Katie, of Berwick; 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; one sister: Eleanor Gregory and husband, Phillip, of Morris NY.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Gordon E. Smith, officiating. For those unable to personally attend, on line condolences will be available at AllenFuneralHomeonline.com.
