Robert D. 'Fuzzy' Beyers

Robert D. “Fuzzy” Beyers went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 3, 2020 surrounded by his family in his Scott Township home. Formerly of Hemlock Township. He was the son of the late Hazel Rubenstein Beyers and William Beyers born on March 18, 1935. Bob was married to the former Norma Travelet, with whom he would be celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary on the day that he will be laid to rest, October 8th. He is also survived by his only daughter, Crystal Deiterich and spouse, Rick, of Danville; granddaughter, Sarah Golla and husband, Ryan, of Danville; grandson, Kyle Deiterich, of Bloomsburg and his significant other, Sarah Troy, of Catawissa; and great grandchildren: Grace, Addison, Carson, and Hannah Golla, all of Danville. Bob was one of six children who grew up on 8th Street in Bloomsburg. Surviving are his sisters: Carol Comstock, of Clarks Summit and Donna Coombe, of Bloomsburg; brothers: William Beyers and wife, Betty; Gary Beyers and wife, Gayle, all of Bloomsburg; Larry Murihead and wife, Patricia, of San Diego, California; as well as several nieces and nephews. Without forgetting his most dependable sidekick Bo, his not so spoiled Shih Tzu. Bob attended Bloomsburg schools leaving in 11th grade to support his family, in turn started his 50 plus year span of working for Weis Markets. Bob “Fuzzy” as most people only knew him by was always a very proud man, especially of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He spent as much time as he could going to their sporting events, and supporting them over the years. He was always putting others before himself. Bob’s life was good, always known for his positive outlook never letting people or things get him down. Over the years, he worked and volunteered at many jobs including his 50 plus years with Weis markets, Baird’s gas station, Press Enterprise, William Elwell Funeral Home, Knoebels, Roger Allen Funeral Home and last but not least the Bloomsburg Fair Grandstand as a ticket taker, where he will be sadly missed. Bob also found time to volunteer at many different organizations. He was never able to say no to many people easily, some of these included the Men of Wesley, Wesley mission trips, Bloomsburg Ambulance Association and the Bloomsburg Food Cupboard. He also belonged to several organizations in the area: Washington Lodge #265, Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg Elks #436 and he was a life member of the former Rescue Fire Company. There were not too many places where Bob would go without knowing someone. For each of you reading this please take the time today to do a kind deed for someone else, he would want you to. Special thank you’s to our dear family friends, Larry and Shirley Weaver, who been through the good and the bad times with us no matter what. Also to the Geisinger Hospice team, you were all excellent caregivers providing support and dignity to our husband, father and pap. A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening, October 7, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg. Masonic memorial services will begin at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin on Thursday morning, October 8, 2020 at 10 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Rev. Mark F. Reisinger of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg and Rev. Shawn McNett of Strawberry Ridge United Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Beyers family.
